Tamworth has a warm climate with hot summers and mild winters.  The average maximum temperature is 33 degrees Celsius in the Summer and overnight is around 18 degrees Celsius.  Winters are mild with daytime temperatures around 17 degrees Celsius and overnight around 3 degrees Celsius.  With around 25 days a year that temperatures exceed 35 degrees Celsius, Tamworth recorded a new record high of 45.9 degrees Celsius on 12 February 2017.

Rainfall is experienced all year round, with summer storms providing occasional heavy downpours.  Tamworth’s rain season, in the early months of a new year can result in major flooding.  The annual average rainfall is 636mm (25 inches).
